Resolved: Poor Customer Service

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I cancelled my order with them .

They double charged me in error and refused to reverse the charges even though they have a policy for no charge on an order of this kind before March 31st. They insisted they charges were pending yet my checking account showed the two charges being deducted leaving me with a balance of $40.00 in my account

I recently tried to order a nuc. I specifically told the person I wanted to only order 1 at this time.

I was told there was a problem with my debit card. The customer service person laughed and saidI hope I didnt charge you twice. That is exactly what the woman did. Then despite Betterbee having a policy of cancelling an order before March 31st to avoid charges, the manger Brittany kept insisting my charges were pending .

But my account reflected the charges leaving me with a balance of $40.00 in my checking account. I know this business is no longer a family business but after 29 years of my loyalty , I will no longer do business with Betterbee

Betterbee - Out of date mite treatment
When I got the mite treatment from Betterbee I had to put it off for about 15 days. When I opened the strips I thought the wind was in my favor. After I finished 4 hives I found it strange the bees werent acting the same as every other I treated them. I gave the strip a quick smell test. No smell of acid at all. I then looked at the package and it was 23 months out from production date. I made the company aware of the problem with no response. I will pay a bit more from Dedant or Mann lake bee supplies

The order issue

I want to buy a 40 dollars gift card for my host mom. However, I placed my order and the website said there is problem with my payment so I placed it again and it also says that my payment has issues so it's not successful. But when I check my phone I saw the notification of 2 payments and I want to cancel one but there is no any record that I have placed order.

We recently had a similar experience with Betterbee. The company changed hands and apparently changed their procedures.

They seem to have difficulty processing refunds. It happened after it was their mistake too. My husband was charged twice, and they said they couldn't fix the mistake. We went to the bank and disputed the charge.

We got a new debit card. After 30 years, my husband will no longer be doing business with Betterbee.

After much research, I was excited to order from Betterbee when looking to purchase a wicking needle for my business. The initial experience was great while purchasing the product from their website.

When my package arrived, my husband and I opened the box and much to our surprise, it was empty.

Keep in mind, I ordered two 14 inch wicking needles; the needles were originally placed in an 8.5x16.5 inch box with a pick of brown butcher paper inside. We immediately called in the empty package and we were asked to look inside the box again as the needles are thin and could have fallen into the creases within the box. The box as you can see, have holes in the corners which the needles easily slid through while in transit. I was surprised 1.) the needles were placed in the box with no packaging 2.) the customer service agent (who was very pleasant) stated the needles are not placed in packaging and are usually shipped in a padded envelope.

We were advised they would ship us the needles, but couldn't give us a date of arrival.

When asked for expedited shipping due to a shrinking timeline for a vendor event I had coming up, we were advised the two-day shipping rate would be over 40.00 through FedEx and they would only pay half the shipping as the shipping was expensive.

Although the customer service agent was pleasant, replacing our order due to their mishandling of the final packaging was a nightmare. It irks me that Betterbee doesn't understand how the mishandling of product delivery can cost other small businesses such as ours money and time that can not be recovered.

I order the lyson unassembled polystrene hive complete and 2 matching hive bodies. Product shipped quickly which is great. Opened the box and all my hardware was wrapped in saran wrap. I had other hardware in nice bags that were labeled. Really my main order of hardware is jumbled together in saran wrap. I then primered all parts of the hive and put together. After assembling i have boxes that are warped. A lid that doesnt sit even. And pieces on the bottom board and inner cover that are damaged and not by me. Also i am missing a piece for the entrance reducer. Another thing i ordered a lyson hive what i recieved is covered with betterbee logos. Their website pictures do not represent their products. Nor does it state this on the website. I will not be purchasing products from them nemore. I expect better quality than this for what i paid. Order # N186824 purchased 8/14/18.

We have ordered from Betterbee several times. The people on the phone are always friendly. The orders arrive quickly. They recently re-did a print order for me ....no charge. The labels had a weight in them. We use the labels for more than one size jar so we choose to have the labels printed without a weight. We were recently using our labels and I noticed that the weight was on the label. I called Betterbee and they printed the labels and sent them out PRIORITY mail...no questions asked. I was very happy! I noticed later that the labels were from 2015. Great customer service. I would recommend this company!

New Owners vs. Original

We used to buy equipment from BetterBee before the long-time owners sold the company. Since it was sold, we've had recurring problems with their policies and unwillingness to stand by their products. The workmanship on the select grade wood was not up to previous standards. Even when we went to the store in person to see what we were getting, many of the finger joints were splintered and hive bodies not well made. We went round and round with them and once got stuck with an equipment shortage just before the spring, so we buy elsewhere now. They simply were unreasonable, wanted inflated prices for poorly made equipment. It's too bad because the previous owners did not steadily increase prices while the quality of their products degraded.

My experiences with BetterBee have been excellent.

During this, our first year of Beekeeping, we found lots of helpful advice, friendly service, and very good products. Shipping is expensive, but it is less than some of the other good bee-supply houses. Thanks for considering this alternate experience. My only personal experience with Better Bee was an opportunity to hear one of the owners, Chris who is a veterinarian! describe the needs of bees in 2014. The informative talk caused me to consider BetterBee products, and the result has been very good. Apologies for repeating. The requirement Is 100 words. During this, our first year of Beekeeping, we found lots of helpful advice, friendly service, and very good products. Shipping is expensive, but it is less than some of the other good bee-supply houses.

I LOVE BetterBee! Best customer service!

I LOVE doing business with these people! I order probably 6 times a year from them, and yet somehow they KNOW me! Every time I order, the girls make small talk on the phone and they actually remember me! I have never had a bad experience, and they typically ship in stock products the next business day, which is AWESOME! Since I live 200 or so miles away, I receive them a day later. 2 day shipping from a small-ish company! A+ Keep up the awesome work! I only order from their competitors if there is a product that they don't stock. Even when I buy local, I buy from a company that resells their excellent products, so I can support a local business and support BetterBee at the same time!

Betterbee 2 day shipping

I paid extra for 2 day shipping,,this was for a non profit meals on wheels 2 day event the following week end.. 6 days later my items arrived,, it arrived after the event..I contacted the company and they were rude and refused to return the extra money I spent on shipping,, This company shipped a damaged box 4 days late and stated it was my fault because I ordered the items too late!! I had problems with this company before,rude staff,over charging and not getting what I ordered,,save yourself the headaches and buy elsewhere,,this company does not care about customer service,,I will Not be doing business with them again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BetterBee complaint very rude, nasty, unhelpful employees

My wife placed an order with BetterBee for my Christmas present. The same day I called to confirm the order and questioned the $40 shipping fee for the $140 order. The shipping fee was more than doubled what last year's fees were. I asked to speak to a manager. The girl refused to help me or let me speak to a manager. "I'm not going to let you talk to a manager." The incorrect products were sent to me. I ordered and paid for two honey buckets with gates where the holes are drilled into the buckets and the gates come with it. I received the honey buckets without the holes and did not receive the gates. My wife called again and spoke to another girl, asked how to send back the products and if BetterBee could send us or e-mail us a return packing slip to cover the cost of shipping so we could mail the products back. (Walter T. Kelly, Dadant, & even Cabella's can do this). The girl said their company didn't do this or she didn't know how to do this. She mentioned that she would figure this out and call me back that day or the next. I waited for her to call. She did not. I called that afternoon and was told this girl was out sick. My wife called again that Monday and talked to the manager without realizing she was the manager. My wife spoke to the original person she had spoken to earlier, but this person could not help us. My wife again asked to speak to a manager. She was told the manager was not available and that she'd call us back. Leah did return our call and explained that their company was too small to deal with returns in this way. (In business for 31 years--why can't they deal with returns by sending a return packing slip). She said BetterBee did not send us the wrong products, she got very snotty and said we could drill our own holes in the buckets, and told my wife to be quiet so she could explain their procedures. My wife was trying to explain the situation to Leah in a pleasant, composed tone without sarcasm or nastiness when my wife was told to be quiet. She didn't appreciate that. The manager said we would have to pay to mail the products back and then BetterBee would reimburse us on our credit card for the shipping fee. How do we know this would happen? Between the two of us, we spoke to about five different nasty women. What would lead us to believe that we would get reimbursed for shipping if we decided to go this route. We chose to just have BetterBee send us the gates and drill our own holes in the honey buckets. BetterBee sent us the gates without any problems, but we will never ever deal with this company again. As a new beekeeper, I was ready to order quite a bit of supplies from this company; and I have now chosen to tell everyone I know in my bee association about the attitude and policies of BetterBee. How can this company possibly still be in business or employ such unhelpful, rude personnel. BEWARE!!!!

I ordered jars with lids,,after spending hours filling jars with honey we found they did not come with all the lids!!! We had called them and they stated they would look into it,the lidless jars sat in our fridge for weeks,they refused to make our order right..,,they were rude and disrespectful.....

They are always backorderd and don't tell you that when you place your order. We refer to them as Better Bee Prepared to Wait!

I live in Canada and have my purchases shipped to Ryden's border store. I have always received excellent service from Betterbee.

I also had a negative experience at Betterbee. They obviously don't care about customer complaints or satisfaction in the least. I will NEVER order from them again and suggest that if you need any of their type of products that you go to another source.

Tax Complaint

We ordered from betterbee from a while and the women who answered our call was extremely rude. she told us that we need to pay tax. what bothered me is that fact that we are farmers and that we have a tax exempt form. so she looked and she said that we don't have it on file. she wanted us to fax the exemption form which clearly take us a minute or two and we said we cannot waste our time if they have it on file. then she rudely said "then we will NOT process the order until we have the form". to this IMHO is like a smack on the face and I clearly think that their service is horrible. if you live in NY, GO to the store themselves. they are located in Greenwich, NY. and we said. because of your service, we will not buy from you anymore.. if you are a beekeeper from NYS. don't buy from them on the web or phone. they will just ploy you to pay tax.
